{"id":2560,"date":"2012-04-16T00:00:52","date_gmt":"2012-04-16T04:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/?p=2560"},"modified":"2012-04-14T09:58:10","modified_gmt":"2012-04-14T13:58:10","slug":"getting-my-glassblower-shot-chad-piece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/?p=2560","title":{"rendered":"Getting My Glassblower Shot: Chad Piece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2561 [ftmt_id]\" title=\"glass-fire-3\" src=\"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3-570x317.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3-570x317.jpg 570w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3-600x334.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3-150x83.jpg 150w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3-250x139.jpg 250w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3-200x111.jpg 200w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-3.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the shot that I was looking of for Chad Piece &#8211; a glassblower here in Ybor City &#8211; Tampa. \u00a0I came upon him when we were walking along Ybor city during a meetup &#8211; and I knew I wanted to try an HDR&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the thing &#8211; While you may think that making an HDR picture of something (or someone) will look cool- \u00a0the person you are usually trying to convince rarely has heard of HDR. \u00a0You dont have time to sit there and give them the whole &#8220;you take multiple pictures and stack them then use software&#8221; shebang.<\/p>\n<p>This is where I usually do two things to help me get a shot:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Carry My Ipad : <\/strong> I can quickly get into a conversation with the person about what I do, what I shoot, and how I do it this way. \u00a0I make sure that I keep all of my HDR Images in one folder, and make sure that I have them in the exact order I want to show them. \u00a0This way I can just talk and swipe. \u00a0The swiping keeps the attention.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Test The Shoot:<\/strong> I am often wrong as to what I think will make a good HDR, and I dont want to waste anyones time trying. \u00a0To that, I usually go on and try a shot at an insanely high ISO for me. \u00a0Now, obviously this depends on what camera you have. \u00a0I use the NIkon D3S &#8211; so this thing pretty much shoots in the dark.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Test Shoot<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2562 [ftmt_id]\" title=\"glass-fire-1\" src=\"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1-570x317.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1-570x317.jpg 570w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1-600x334.jpg 600w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1-150x83.jpg 150w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1-250x139.jpg 250w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1-200x111.jpg 200w, https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/glass-fire-1.jpg 1400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Was this the shot that I totally wanted? \u00a0Kinda sorta, but not really. \u00a0That said, however, this shot gets me close to what I am looking for. \u00a0More importantly, it lets the person see what I am trying &#8211; getting them more excited about letting me do it. \u00a0So, now when I tell him &#8220;OK, you see this.. I am going to have to redo this.. with your face really close to the fire.. and you have to stay perfectly still&#8230; in front of the fire&#8221; \u00a0I know he&#8217;s going to be excited about doing it. \u00a0 By shooting at 2200 ISO, I can quickly pick off a shot where him moving\u00a0isn&#8217;t\u00a0going to kill me first. \u00a0In this case, I had my laptop a couple of doors down at a Pizza place with my friends. \u00a0I immediately shot this picture and went\u00a0back\u00a0to the pizza place to work it. \u00a0A quick 5 min treatment, and I went back with the laptop, full screen, Lights out in Lightroom to show him this picture.<\/p>\n<p>He asked if I could send him the shot to send his mom, as it was the best pic he&#8217;s seen of himself. \u00a0I thought that was kind of cool on two fronts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To me, there is sooo much I\u00a0would&#8217;ve\u00a0rather done in this picture. \u00a0To me, I find all these imperfections. \u00a0However, to the person whom you&#8217;re making the image, these things\u00a0aren&#8217;t\u00a0immediately apparent. \u00a0Sometimes you need to sit back and remember that. \u00a0How you make a person feel about the picture sometimes is more important than the technicality of the picture.<\/li>\n<li>In Chad asking that he wanted the picture for his mom, I knew I sold him on letting me really try it. \u00a0I can then experiment with different ISO and Aperture settings to get what I want.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What I love about this shot is that Chad is definitely a\u00a0character\u00a0(and a Long Islander to boot. \u00a0Was pumped about that), so I can see a couple of cool shoots coming out of this.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in the Tampa area, make sure you <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100003020946989\" target=\"_blank\">Friend Chad on Facebook<\/a>, or stop by and see him melt some glass live at his store window in Ybor &#8211; Hot Wax Glass &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=1524+E.+7th+Ave++Ybor+City,+FL+33605&amp;client=safari&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;hnear=1524+E+7th+Ave,+Tampa,+Hillsborough,+Florida+33605&amp;gl=us&amp;t=m&amp;z=16\" target=\"_blank\">1524 E. 7th Ave \u00a0Ybor City, FL 33605<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"This is the shot that I was looking of for Chad Piece &#8211; a glassblower here in Ybor&hellip;","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"csco_singular_sidebar":"","csco_page_header_type":"","csco_page_load_nextpost":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[10],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-2560","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-blog","7":"cs-entry"},"amp_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2560"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=2560"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2560\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2568,"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2560\/revisions\/2568"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=2560"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=2560"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/aboutrc.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=2560"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
