<\/a><\/p>\nI also feel all of this affords a responsibility to be truthful as to who I am when I share socially.\u00a0 While I could inundate my Instagram feed on projects that could very well live in a portfolio section of my blog – I feel like using a social platform for\u00a0only<\/em> this contributes to the endless amount of “Look at Me” that we can see on the internet.\u00a0 I remember sitting on a talk show where someone recommended that I go “Into my vault of great pictures” and just share those only on my Instagram – and my skin crawled.\u00a0 To me, that would feel like anyone who would follow me would just see a steady stream of “Look at this picture i made today.\u00a0 Its awesome.. I don’t ever have a bad shot. You can do this too” and offer an unrealistic view into the life that I lead.\u00a0 If i were just starting out – I would believe that this is the reality of being a great photographer is – and it’s just not tenable.<\/p>\nI Detest The Word Influencer<\/em><\/h2>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_1503-570x428.jpg\")
<\/a><\/p>\nIt’s also – not really\u00a0me<\/em>.\u00a0 I am a -dad-.\u00a0 I am a goofball.\u00a0 I like to talk about music and woodworking.\u00a0 I have dumb days where I totally forgot to change the settings on my camera.\u00a0 I’ve gone to shoots and completely blown it.\u00a0 I believe\u00a0all\u00a0<\/em>of this informs who I am as a teacher and an artist.\u00a0 When I don’t have anything photographically to share – I don’t.\u00a0 We\u00a0all<\/em> have that period in our life, so why would I pretend like it doesn’t happen to me.\u00a0 I shoot stuff that I look back and think it completely sucks..\u00a0 so why wouldn’t I say that?<\/p>\nThe internet is overblown with people out there sharing content and tips and tricks in the mantra of being\u00a0Influencers<\/em> in the space – and it’s just something i’ve never really been wanting to be.\u00a0 I kinda hate the term.\u00a0 I don’t want people to look at the things that I say and be influenced by the amount of hype I throw at it.\u00a0 I’m a\u00a0teacher.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>I want to get out there and share something with you and teach you how this\u00a0something<\/em> could help you be better.\u00a0 If you think that it’s useful –\u00a0how<\/em> I taught it would have helped confirm your decision.\u00a0 And I don’t think that selling an overtly sanitized version of myself would help make those connections.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/aboutrc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/A20104C8-C398-4580-A2DF-89A7ABA2D11A-e1510868217289-570x428.jpg\")
<\/a><\/p>\nBecause of that – I post from as many sides of me as I can on social.\u00a0 You see the dad moments, as much as you see the goofball moments.\u00a0 You see the finished photographs, as well as the trips and behind the scenes that show me stumbling to try to make it.\u00a0 You hear my thought process, my hopes, my fears, and my failures – because they are exactly the kinds of things that every one of us has going for us.<\/p>\n
