For the last couple of years, I have been incredibly blessed to be asked by Joe McNally to come out and teach with him at the Advanced Flash Workshops at Anse Chastanet/Jade Mountain. The past year has been a bit of a whirlwind. Lots of projects up in the air. Lots of cool opportunities. That said – I’d be lying if I didnt say that I have been running on fumes last couple of months. To be able to get away and get some downtime in paradise is something that really gives you something to look forward to. All of a sudden – the mood goes from exhaustion to “three more days till I get to Jade Mountain”
Sitting in class – the group gathered for this year is diverse. Friendly. I -love- the small group setting to chat. I can go in so many directions to teach. I love being able to fire different parts of my brain – composition, video, flash, web, …
That said – I’d also be lying if I didn’t say that the one thing i’ve been looking forward to the most is to just quiet the mind. To just relax.. not talk… not interact. Just to stare into the ocean and just let the brain quiet down just a little. I’ve been fighting this feeling of being past the mid point mark of the life line.. maybe its just the turning 40 thing soon… but Makes me think i’ve got more behind me than in front of me. I hope not. But ive never been able to quiet that fear..
I’m tired. but i’m so thankful to get a chance to have these moments. I will never forget them – and something I really really needed right about now..
You do tend to fire on all cylinders RC! It is a good thing though, I just wasn’t sure how you did it. Now I know! You hide it well.
It was a blast getting back together with the crew in PS World. Enjoy your much deserved rest and relaxation. A little ‘R&R’ as we call it in the military.
Time & Tide. Could this be why you get invited to do the ADVANCED workshops.
Look at it this way 10 years from now you will be bald and your doughtier will be bringing boyfriends home Then you will, want those alone moment. Enjoy your day with the sea, sand & surf.
Really glad you are getting some R&R with your wife in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
