Back when I was packing for this trip out west, I thought to myself.  “Ok.. I have this Really Right Stuff tripod that i’ve been lugging around everywhere.  Its small, and so far, hasnt been that much of an issue. Do I get a big tripod for this trip or stick with this one (its the TQC14 and BH30 head ive been raving about).
Last minute, I decided to stick with it and take it on the trip out. After 8 days have to say, it really held up well, despite me throwing it in water, sand, and all sorts of place that would make +Joe Johnson cringe. But hey.. I dont want it to be pretty.. I want this thing to work.. and its been doing great. This was shot in Zion National park, at a place called “The Narrows”. Thanks so much to Stephen Hart (http://kshartphotography.com) for taking this pic of me!
I was in the Narrows several years ago. It was 104 degrees and I had to stop when the water reached my neck and a person who had made it to shallow water asked me to throw my gear to him and then wade to the shallow spot. Yeah right, throw my 5D across the water. If I had a tripod. I probably could have used it to keep my camera out of danger.
Looking forward to seeing your captures..
